Built on Passion
In the beginning, San Ramon was all farmland where the Ceballos family raised cattle, and the house was the only structure on the property. Fede’s father always had racehorses and one day, Fede’s older brother started to play polo with one of the horses. Like any younger brother emulating their older sibling, Fede followed in his brother’s footsteps and started to play. A love of the sport grew into a passion that transformed the property to what it is today. Through the help of Fede’s family, they established San Ramon Polo - a working polo ranch that trains polo ponies and accommodates polo players of all abilities to visit, learn and play this amazing sport.
Fede Ceballos
Fede began playing polo at the age of 11. His older brother was just starting his first practices and Fede followed along. With one horse and his brother’s encouragement, Fede continued to develop in the sport. At the age of 14, he received an offer to play in Europe but his parents prioritized education and turned the offer down.
Fede continued to mature and grow in the sport, organizing his own team and making connections with other polo players. By 23, he began traveling to the United States, spending time in California and Colorado where he currently manages Mira Vista Polo Club. Now, he splits his time between San Ramon in Argentina and the United States, following the summer polo season in both countries.
Life on the Ranch
Work on the ranch starts as early as 5:00AM with the grooms feeding and grooming the horses, cleaning the stalls and then heading out to the arena for daily training. Grooms are a polo player’s most trusted partner as they spend most of their time with the horses, keeping them fit, clean, and tidy before every polo match. Just like a trainer with their athletes, the grooms make sure the horses train well, rest well, and eat well to be 100% for the polo season.
Guests will enjoy polo lessons in the morning with chukkers played in the evening and our grooms are a major part of preparing the horses for these activities.
Other tasks involve maintaining the polo field and the grounds - there is much to do to keep San Ramon running!
As this is a family ranch, you will also come into contact with our family members - this includes our beloved dogs and cats!
